We are happy to have come across these bloggers who visited Austin during Batfest. They seem to know their stuff about margaritas, and we are happy to have impressed them with ours at Guero’s! Here’s an exerpt:

“As an aside, here’s a word about margaritas: they’re not green. They don’t look like slush puppies, and aren’t as sweet as candy. They’re not made with bar mix of any kind. If someone makes you a margarita with any of the features named above, by all means drink it, but don’t think it’s a margarita. Margaritas have three ingredients: good tequila, an orange liqueur, like cointreau or triple sec and fresh-squeezed lime juice, shaken and poured over ice in a small glass. If you absolutely must, salt the rim. That’s it, that’s all. Anything else is like buying Spam at the grocery store and serving it for Easter. Guero’s margaritas are done very right, indeed. A small glass of refreshing perfection”

They also seemed infatuated with our “BEST EVER” quesadillas.

“Here, we snacked on some guacamole and what turned out to be the BEST EVER quesadilla. Soft flour tortillas with chorizo, tomato and onion with good jack cheese, accompanied by sour cream, more guacamole and jalapeno slices. We imagine that they toasted the tortillas on a flatop or in a pan to brown them a little and then steamed them until the cheese melted. As a result we didn’t get any hard and dried out tortillas, just soft and pillowy, oozing with filling.

Happy Mouth Blogger's Pic of Our Quesadillas!

The next thing you need to decide is if you want the caterers to mean mug your guests and slap a cold enchilada on their plate, OR if you want a hard-working Guero’s staff to prepare, deliver, serve, and clean up with a smile. Of course, if you want to just order and pick it up yourself, we can just smile at you when you get here. We’re flexible like that.

All of our menu items are prepared fresh in Guero’s kitchen by our staff adhering strictly to recipes brought from Mexico by our chefs, so you know the taste is authentic.

Our stellar reputation as an established Austin Mexican food restaurant didn’t happen by accident. So if you trust Austin, you can trust us. We want to make you happy, so let us do what we love and impress you and your guests with the tastiest Mexican Food that Austin has to offer. We want to make catering as simple and as easy on you as possible, so here are some suggested catering options under our website’s catering section: Guero’s Catering Menu

Decisions, decisions. If you need a personal catering consultation call 447-7688 or email us at catering@guerostacobar.com.

Keep us in mind next time you need to cater, and we’ll be here waiting, fajitas and all.

Our Soco Rita is made with Cazadores Roponsada, Cointreau & fresh squeezed lime juice! Feel the taste buds tingling?

Sunday @ 3:00pm

All across America, the general public knows that Mexican food is absolutely delicious. The problem is that too many establishments try and bring Mexican food to the people but they are unable to fully bring out the flavors. Guero’s Taco Bar has no such problems because it is located in Austin in the great state of Texas whose proximity to Mexico guarantees some of the best Mexican food North of the border. Indeed, over one third of the population of Austin is of Hispanic origin so when they give Guero’s the thumbs up, you know that this taco bar must be something special.

Of course, its location alone is not enough. It would be fallacy to suggest that Austin Mexican food is guaranteed to be delightful Mexican cuisine. Guero’s Taco Bar had to work hard to establish its burgeoning reputation. There is nothing processed or plain in Guero’s. They specialize in a host of things including freshly-marinated and grilled meat which ends up in their wonderful tacos. When you order food from Guero’s, you are getting freshly made salsa and homemade tortillas, just like down Mexico Way.

Unfortunately, not everyone can travel to Mexico City to sample the legendary cuisine but with Guero’s you don’t have to. Although your body is still in the United States, your taste buds will be transported across the border. Best of all, there are no custom patrols and no passport is required!

Perhaps you would like to start your experience with the Caldo de Pollo, a beautiful traditional Mexican soup loaded with fresh vegetables and chicken and is said to have restorative qualities, perfect for one who has had too much tequila! The most sought after dish in Guero’s however is the Tacos al Pastor which is prepared in same way as it is in Mexico City. The boneless pork butt is partially frozen and sliced razor thin. It is then marinated in spices and juices for hours before the shaved pork is placed on a skewer known as a ‘trompo’. The skewer is rotated and cooked with the slices of pork, placed on the handmade tortillas, and served with a variety of fruit and vegetables. It takes hours to get the meat just right and seconds for delighted customers to devour it!

Unfortunately, the Mexico City spectacle of dancing whilst slicing the meat is not permitted due to safety concerns. Nonetheless, the dish is guaranteed to taste just as delicious. As Mexican food in Texas has evolved thanks to Mexican influences, it has become more and more delicious. While it would be fantastic to travel to Mexico, eating at Guero’s Taco Bar is the next best thing to sitting in a bar in Guadalajara.

“One block south and across the avenue from the Continental, in a century-old building that formerly housed Central Feed and Seed, is Güero’s Taco Bar, which owners Rob and Cathy Lippincott opened in 1995 after moving their restaurant from its original location a couple of miles away. Six months after opening, President Bill Clinton stopped in for dinner (“He cleaned his plate”), business shot up 40 percent, and it’s been busy ever since.”

Life Is A Road Trip “Guero’s In Austin, TX”

“I’ve been to Guero’s a couple times before … I’d have to say it’s probably some of the best tex-mex I’ve ever had”

“For decades now, Guero’s has been a frequent but temporary cure for home sickness.”

“So, finding a place where my first impression was “God, this tastes kinda like home!” was amazing.”

“So, whether you are missing your mom’s cooking, or your nanny’s, treat yourself to Guero’s soon. It’s considered one of Austin’s best for a good reason.”
