Why Our Outdoor Stage Was Shut Down On Friday

Chris Jones on April 12, 2010 in News

The press is going wild about our outdoor stage being shut down the other night. Politicians like Mayor Pro-Tem Mike Martinez who pledged to help us obtain the necessary permits have decided instead to play politics with the issue. So allow us to clear the air!

Gary over at Austin City Permits has, in my opinion, the accurate story of how all this came to be. It’s almost good enough for a made for TV movie — almost.

Here’s a little blurb from FOX this morning:

UPDATE:

Here’s Guero’s owner Rob Lippincott arguing his case before the Austin City Council: (he starts @ 10:55)

“Idiots”….Really? How unprofessional is that!!? How frustrating for Guero’s. Sounds like some serious miscommunication …whatever, the Mayor doesn’t need to bash a taxpayer.

  2. Michael says:

Yeah and the confusing part of it is that in the City Council meeting (to be published here shortly), Will Wynn essentially says, “Come on everyone, it’s ok to go ahead and visit Guero’s to eat and watch live music.” and Mike Martinez is saying “Yeah, but it’s illegal.” All the while bashing Guero’s behind their backs. No bueno.

  3. Great info! I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often. http://www.finance-insurance-loans.com/ a9
